Medical Nutrition Therapy
with a Registered Dietitian
Making nutritional changes with a dietitian is more than just a “diet”. It is a lifestyle change created specifically for you and your dietary needs. There are many things that influence what you eat, including your health, stress, family, work, budget, time, and psychological well-being. As an expert, a dietitian gathers information on these areas for each patient by completing several assessments:
- Body assessment: Height, weight, body measurements, body fat %, bone mass, muscle mass
- Most recent labs from your physician
- Medical assessment: Medical history, medications
- Lifestyle assessment: Work schedule, sleep schedule, daily activity, exercise, budget, and social life
- Nutritional assessment: Eating patterns, favorite foods, food challenges
- Current goals: build muscle, lose weight, decrease blood sugar and cholesterol, increase energy
All goals are set with Evidenced Based Research to support our advice to keep you healthy while reaching those goals. Sometimes you may leave your appointment with simple target goals, or you may leave with a more specific meal plan (with portions or macros). The joy of working with a dietitian is they are there to support you in making these changes at a pace that matches your needs. Your diet is written specifically for you, considering your schedule, your budget, your family dynamics, and most importantly your goals for health and nutritional success.
